A wander through the Glass House Mountains

The only information board heading into the region. The Glass House Mt map.
An aerial shot of Mt Timbrogargen & few other Glass House Mts in background
Image from: YHA Maroochydore Backpackers Hostel (for scaling purposes)
Mt Timrogargan - one of the Glass House Mountains from the roadside.  We thought it would be a great idea to climb this mountain, Saturday 1/12/12, casually while it was 35 degrees.  It is 364m in elevation and is a volcanic plug of hard alkali rhyolite that squeezed up into the vents of an ancient volcano 27 million years ago.
View from along the Circuit track about to start the summit walk which was a fairly steep but rocky 1.5km return track.
Looking out North West to the other Mountains.  And a bushfire in the distance.

The lumpy bumpy mountain to the left is Mt Ngungun which we climbed the following weekend.  About 1/2 way up the summit track.
No OSH (Health & Safety) here.... It is hold on for dear life or fall off - Yay!

That is Shahn throwing a wee tanty because it was too steep to climb up.  Managed to get up that bit after about 30mins of perseverance and then was met with the near vertical cliff face that you see in the below picture and was going no further. Got up 3/4 of the way up, sweet as, that was enough!
Yeah, it is pretty steep aye?!

At the summit finally.  Looking East towards Sunshine Coast.  Sweaty as!!
Most of the Glass House Mountains from the summit of Mt Timrogargen
Left to Right - Mt Beerwah, Mt Coonawrin, Mt Ngungun and Wild Horse Mountain

Michael soldiered his way up to the summit, Shahn struggled with the near vertical freestyle rock climbing so that's her at the bottom of that part of the cliff - can you spot her?

Brisbane Boat Float

The annual Brisbane Boat Float 2012
Eak and Aaron pre-float, zincing up and getting the chilly bins full of beer!

The two random Canadians and Gout (aka Mike, Aaron's mate) and Aaron
Trying to get the beer to the boat and watching out for snakes!
The set up... three inflatable boats tied together and drifting down the Brisbane river.  There are Bull Sharks in the Brisbane river so I was not keen to get in.

The flotilla
Part of the flotilla we tied up to.
Me looking for a beer.

The Redbull team giving out free stuff, sweet.
The music raft, it went really well until its got flooded and shorted out everything.
Off for a swim, watching out for the Bull sharks

Aaron and one of the Canadians chicks.
Doing a lay back as we floated into port.
Katherine and Sean, were also there but we did not see them until the end.
.....just loving it and extremely drunk at 4pm hahaha!
End of the trip, but an amazing night ensued - Dinner at this amazing Japanese restaurant Sake Sake Sake.  Great day!
Shahn could have been on  this fantastic trip but she was getting a hair cut and picked us up at the end.

Two weekends rolled into one.

More Grooving

Suncorp is possibly the best stadium I have ever watched any sporting event in. All round, a fantastic few weekends in Brisbane - getting home both weekends at the respectable hour of 3-4am. Not getting so old after all!!!
