Weekend fun - Sailing, Hiking, and Rock Climbing

We have been doing some day trips here and there, since we currently live over 3 hours apart from one another due to work.  We spend our weekends together doing something fun!  Our blogging has been particularly useless lately as we have moved house in Ipswich, went to New Zealand for fortnight and have had some long weekends thrown in.

Mount Warning - 25th January 2014
Carpet python on the track as we hiked up the hill - the one and only live wild snake we have seen, usually they are dead on side of road #straya
Views as we hiked up the hill
The view North towards the spring brook where they recently found a new species of marsupial was discovered just a week or two ago.

Sailing at Wivenhoe Dam - 8th March 2014
As usual we head to Wivenhoe Dam when we can get a good windy afternoon.  We managed to get some good winds and had some fun up on trapeze!

NSW Camping trip hunting for Gems - 20th April 2014
Having the long Easter weekend to get a bit further away than we usually get, we headed down to Glen Innes and Inverell to do some gem fossicking.  We ended up staying in a lovely motel as we arrived too late on the Good Friday to set up a campsite.  It was pretty nippy down there - located at 1000m above sea level it gets very cold at night.  Luckily we had our thermals, down jackets and warmy sleeping bags packed so we were sorted.
Just relaxing getting ready to cook dinner
Shahn stoking the campfire to keep warm
Just watching the embers burn after a hard days digging.  We also roasted some marshmallows, deliciousness.
Shahn busy sieving looking for Gems zircons, sapphires and the odd diamond maybe.
We found some nice sapphires here, beautiful spot. Located near Inverell
Our gear set up ready to find gems.
Our digging spot at Wellingrove, we found very little here but have a few good yarns to the locals.
Our set up at the campsite at Kings Plains National Park

Indoor Rock Climbing - 18th May 2014
We have been doing some rock climbing for a bit of fitness when the weather is a bit rubbish or we are strapped for time to get a walk in - and climbing is great fitness!!  We have just purchased our own gear (harnesses and climbing shoes... pretty hardcore, I know!

Michael getting tricky
All up in the hole, Michael showing us how the professionals do it!
Shahn horizontal, it doesn't really look it but all the gym work has been paying off!! It was frigging hard but super stoked that I could finally do this one.
Craig climbing on green
Eaky loving his new climbing gear!
Pictures don't really show the angles of walls, check out my pony tail!!
End of the day, arms getting tired. Everything was hurting but new gear was a winner! Eaky belaying
Craig's last climb of the day.
